The Denton City Council adopted the City’s Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget and tax rate on Sept. 21, 2021.
After months of deliberation and public input through online and over-the-phone comments from residents, the Denton City Council adopted a budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year on Sept. 21, 2021. The FY 21-22 adopted budget includes a tax rate of $0.565 per $100 of valuation, which is the no-new-revenue tax rate. This is the tax rate that results in the same amount of revenue from existing properties as the prior year. The budget also includes a water rate decrease for the average residential customer and continues the trend of no increases to Wastewater, Solid Waste, and Electric rates over the past four years.
Key service enhancements include the design for a new Fire Station 9, DTV closed captioning and live Spanish translation, one new public meeting attendant, one new Emergency Management position, three new Community Development positions, and bond fund issuance for both major street improvement funds and investment in parks.
