Retaining walls that are not over 4 feet in height (measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall) typically do not require a permit. If the retaining wall is designed to support a surcharge, a permit is required.
Plans may be submitted online electronically through eTRAKiT or delivered in person to the Development Services at 401 N Elm Street with four sets of all paper plans.
